Everything was great, food was amazing, the staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the food came out at an efficient time...i felt as if the staff went above and beyond for my child as well...they made sure her plate wasn’t hot as the plates usually come out very hot, they even gave my daughter her own water cup without ice without having to ask!! restaurants rarely acknowledged my toddler so that was nice the vibes are also so cute !!
This is by far my favorite restaurant. The staff is always so friendly and Norma always says hello to us whenever she sees us. My husband and I have been going here for years and we have never had a bad experience. We have moved around a lot recently and both agree Don Jose is still the best Mexican restaurant we have been to.

They were very busy but only waited like 10 minutes out of 15. Very Good and quite friendly waiter! One had fajitas-steak, one Shredded beef tamales combo, one chimichanga. We were pleasantly stuffed!!
Friendly & quick service, very clean, and excellent food! If you're in Decorah it's a must stop. Good size portions, definitely will not leave hungry. Best Mexican Restaurant we've had in a long time!
My undergraduate schooling was at Luther College and I had my fair share of meals here as a student. Driving through to Dubuque with my friend and fiancee I convinced them to stop and try it out. Don Jose never disappoints! I got a margarita and burrito. The margarita tasted great and the burrito's portion size, taste, and presentation were excellent. As a group we got queso and chips and that also hit the spot. We sat outside and the umbrellas were situated to assist in avoiding direct exposure to the sun if someone was into that (I'm pale so I was). The service we received was also tremendous and timely, so an easy 5 stars from me!
I have never had a bad meal from here. Cheese dip is always 10/10, and a couple of my favorites are the Chile Colorado, and the trio enchiladas. For some reason I usually am craving food from here when there’s storms in the area, so I get take out and eat my meal at the radio station while doing severe weather coverage. They are also a good advertiser with us.
Busy on a Sunday midday and with good reason. We noticed how popular it was with the local Hispanic community which speaks well for the food. I had the Burrito Chorizo with eggs which I really enjoyed. Chorizo was flavorful without being too spicy. The red sauce had a nice sweetness to it. My wife enjoyed her Quesadilla as well. Food was delivered quickly and piping hot. Service was prompt and professional.
